Hagi city was municipalized in the 7th year of Showa (in 1932).The city was a central city of the area facing the sea of Japan in Yamaguchi prefecture and has developed in close connection with its neighboring area.
In the area around the old castle town, it is said that people at that time used to say “ going to town” instead of “going downtown to do some shopping.”A lot of shops stood in a row along the streets.
