He learned mining and civil engineering. Coming back in 1868, he became head of the railway construction and contributed to the Japanfs first railway construction between Shimbashi (Tokyo) and Yokohama. Later on he was appointed to the Director General of the Railway Agency and constructed a network of railways. He devoted his life to railways. He also set up a train manufacturing limited partnership in 1896 and made an effort to begin home production of locomotives. |
